Thanks to the generosity of the Town’s people (including of course surrounding towns & villages) together with the hard work of the Open-air pool’s volunteer committee and fund raising sub-committee, over £22,000 has been raised in the last 7months and we are pleased to announce that the pool will now be opening on teh 24th of May.

The filter – that caused so many problems last season - has now been completely refurbished, so we look forward to some lovely sparkling spring water this year.

Our next major task is to try to ensure this wonderful facility remains available for future generations. To this end we are currently working with a firm of specialist architects to consider how to renovate and improve the pool infrastructure. When we have a clear plan of the work required, we will then be able to approach some of the larger funders for sums to cover each phase of the renovation work. The money raised so far has not only enabled us to open again this year, it also provides the match funding – evidence of the town’s support - required by these larger funders.

As we begin to apply for funds for each stage of the renovation work, we will need to continue to raise funds locally.
